I’m Dr Claire Cattigan, Director of Barwon Health’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at University Hospital Geelong.
I am incredibly proud of our ICU team. They are remarkable, resilient people committed to caring for the Greater Geelong community.
At Barwon Health, we are lucky to have the very best who, every day, stand ready to save the lives of those in our community who are critically ill.
Health services around the world are facing major challenges with the emergence of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), and Barwon Health is responding in these unprecedented times which is having a major impact on our community.
The truth is though, our hospital and ICU teams are busy every day, not just in response to COVID-19, and I want to assure you that my team at Barwon Health, and in all areas of our health service, are ready to respond and care for you now and into the future.
And this is where you can help.
Now, more than ever, we need your support but the truth is, we need it every day. Support our frontline, who are ready to care for you, when you need us.
We ask that you help us in this fight against Coronavirus and invest in your local health service by making a tax deductable donation to support our work.
Please consider donating to the Barwon Health Foundation’s Coronavirus Emergency Response Fund.
We know this is a difficult time for many people in our community but, if you do have the ability to make a donation, it will go a long way to support staff and assist patients who need access to the very best care and treatment.
Whilst the Government provides funding for core public health services, the Barwon Health Foundation raises funds to provide the extra level of comfort and care for our community, now and into the future.
Your donation will be used to fund vital medical research and clinical trials, support our telehealth teams to provide care to patients in isolation, provide comfort for our elderly and vulnerable patients, and support our world-class infectious diseases team who are working around the clock to keep us all safe.
It is also important to remember that the effect of Coronavirus will be felt across the entire health service for a considerable amount of time beyond the pandemic phase of this health crisis. Barwon Health is, of course, the largest regional health service in Victoria and therefore is busy every day, not only right now.
A donation today will help enhance your health service, for when you and your loved need us.
It is because of the generous support of donors like you that the Barwon Health Foundation has been able to provide an extra level of exceptional care for those requiring assistance from our health service. Your previous donations have funded numerous projects, have purchased vital medical equipment, invested in world-leading clinical trials, and for this we say a heartfelt ‘thank you’.
These past projects include Barwon Health’s Andrew Love Cancer Centre redevelopment, the redevelopment of Children’s Ward and Special Care Nursery and the Maternity Hub. Your donations have also helped equip the Emergency Department, Oncology, Cardiology and Neurology Wards at University Hospital Geelong with the updated equipment to support patients and their loved ones.
Care for our patients at Barwon Health never stops. We are here for you when you need us. We are all in this together. We all play a role in the health of Greater Geelong.
If you would like to support the work of our amazing team here in the ICU, along with other areas of our health service, please donate to the Barwon Health Foundation this tax time.
We depend on the generosity of locals like you to make it happen. Right now is the perfect time to make a donation. Your gift can almost immediately be claimed as a deduction on your tax return.
Please make a donation today or purchase a piece of equipment outlined in this letter and dedicate it to a loved one or donate it in your family’s name.
You’ll be doing something truly significant for people who need life-saving healthcare now, and in the months ahead.
Please donate online here.
From all of us in University Hospital Geelong’s ICU and our colleagues across Barwon Health, I say thank you.
